Plans for 50m pylon line next to Bennachie – PROJECT DROPPED in 2017

SSE intended to build a  huge power line next to Bennachie. The new line would have been working by 2024. However in January 2017 SSE announced that the project would not go ahead for the time being.

  1. “If you cherish the sense of history of Castle Fraser and its place in the landscape (next to 50m high pylons)…”

The above statement is misleading for the following reasons:
    1. The proposed pylons are not being built on the Castle Fraser Estate.
    2. The proposed pylons would not be visible when viewing the castle within the context of its landscape.
    3. The proposed pylons would not be visible from the castle.

  2. Not misleading at all.
    1. We said “next to” not “on”
    2. 50m high pylons highly visible and wreck the sense of history of Castle Fraser and environment of the estate (including nearby stone circles, Castle Fraser Ponds and its rare species)
    3. Pylons will be visible from the Castle. NTS will object.
